Media: Big Blunders investigated by Sitepoint

Source: Sitepoint, 15 April 2003
Submitted by Ann Light

"Top 7 Usability Blunders Of The Big Players" by Philippe Randour does what it says in the name. This article on Sitepoint lists seven blunders and seven 'big name' offenders - one for each. The blunders are:
- No Print-Friendly Pages
- Botched Localisation
- Pop-up Windows and Flying Banners
- "Under Construction"
- Multiple Windows for One Site
- Broken Links
- Incoherence Between Pages

Judge for yourself whether they are all really blunders, or whether some may have application in some contexts. However, as he goes on to say, 'the information presented in this article should be second nature to the majority of Web designers'. And I was amazed to discover that the old chestnut "Under Construction" could still be found at large and on a commercial site!
