UPA German Chapter Organises Usability Professionals Track for Conference

The German Chapter of the Usability Professionals Association has organised a Usability Professionals' Track to feature presentations on practical issues in usability and human-computer interaction (HCI) at Mensch & Computer 2003. Mensch & Computer is the largest German HCI conference.

Matthias Peissner, member of the board of the UPA German chapter, explained that the chapter has members in some 10 local groups around the country. This organisation allows for both local networking and a way to bring the small number of professionals together into one chapter. As a result, they have more public presence than a group of small local chapters could have to 'strengthen the professional profile of usability engineers in Germany, to foster the awareness for usability in the industry and the public'.

The goal of the UP Track is to 'bring as many practitioners as possible to join and actively participate. Practical topics and experience-sharing will be the main focus,' according to Peissner. Mensch & Computer will be held September 7-10, 2003 in Stuttgart, Germany.
