List provides Way for Developers to Reach Testers with Visual Impairment

A list now connects users with visual impairments willing to act as testers and website developers concerned with accessibility.

The purpose of this mailing list is to facilitate communication between webpage developers and visually impaired users, says its organiser.

Some of its goals include:
* Helping each group understand the other group better
* Identifying problems and explore possible solutions based on the knowledge, experience and background of each of the groups
* Sharing new information as it is discovered
* Providing a place where web page developers can ask for volunteers to test their web pages.

Visually impaired Web users have special needs that cannot be simulated. Accessibility expert Peter Bosher recently explained how difficult it is for usability testers to use screen readers as experienced users would (see UN story: Unlikely to be Web Accessibility Test Case, says Expert).
