e-Envoy Pinder states Belief in Importance of Usability

Source: UN, 2 September 2003
Submitted by Ann Light

'The way we will lead Europe in the digital race is by ensuring that what we produce is usable and accessible to all,' says Andrew Pinder, the e-Envoy, He will be sharing details of his commitment to usability and accessibility as part of HCI2003, next week in Bath.

'Usability professionals are an important part of the strategy and should be a part of any digital development work,' he says encouragingly. He is going on record to publicly endorse the argument we've been making for years: that if citizens cannot use the commercial and governmental digital products that are published in the UK, then they simply will not use them. It is good to have such a highly-placed friend to the profession in the Government.

Pinder reports directly to the Prime Minister and works alongside the e-Minister, Patricia Hewitt, who has overall responsibility for the Government's e-agenda.
