CHIplace is Back!

Source: UN, 24 October 2003
Submitted by Ann Light

A new version of CHIplace has just gone public. The discussion space used as a support for the CHI conference, among other things, closed earlier this year, but now returns.

The organisers say that the purpose remains the same: to provide a place for all members of the HCI community to share ideas, debate important issues, and keep abreast of upcoming events.

To participate in the new CHIplace, you will need to log in. Old logins won't work. (In the old site, it was your email address; in the new site, it is your first and last name - taken from the old site - in the form "John_Doe"). Your password will stay the same.

If you have never used CHIplace, you might want to check it out and join. It has a discussion section with forums dedicated to the future of the CHI conference series, to the HCI profession, to education issues, to HCI research, and to CHIplace itself, among other topics. You can contribute to existing topics or create new ones of your own.

And the organisers suggest that if you have any ideas for ways to improve the site, let them know at chiplace@cs.umn.edu.
