The Government's CRM Products for Councils appear Early

The CRM National Programme has announced the early release of many of its draft CRM products and toolkits designed for the public sector. They include roadmaps, blueprints, guides and technical specifications to make implementing CRM easier for all English local authorities.

The Government suggests that Customer Relationship Management (CRM) can help local authorities to improve the quality and effectiveness of their customer services and achieve e-Government targets. The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) has made CRM a pillar of its national e-government strategy for local government, advocating the use of a database which holds customer's records to deliver services across different channels, and to enable joined-up and automated service delivery.

The Programme commenced in January 2003, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of March 2004. It always intended to publish its findings and tools throughout its lifecycle, but has now released a significant number about four months ahead of expectation.
