Graphical View of the User Experience World

Javier Caņada has constructed a map of the user experience world as he sees it: unrepentantly subjective and rather fascinating. As he says' This image is a graphical representation of the user experience field based on my own coordinates, references and perceptions. It is not a precise work, but neither were those first maps made by Mediterranean chartographers.'

The diagram is based on the assumption that everything in the User Experience field ranges between bits and atoms, and points predominantly to the brain or the heart.

The map displays five different types of elements: people, web resources, professional groups, products and disciplines, and two axis: emotional-rational and analog-digital. Every element is placed according to Caņada's view of its nature. He acknowledges that there are many elements missing. 'Further versions could include a different axi, categories or an increased number of points displayed. This work is open for revisions and reformulations.'
