Media: Marketing Karma asks Ethical Questions about Trust

"Can your website be trusted?" by Robin Houghton comes from Marketing Karma, an organisation set up to supply some ethical backbone to marketing. This article is a plea for something more than usability. Has he got it right?

'The phrase 'user-friendly' used to be more, well, friendly. ('Your site is very user-friendly!' 'Oh, thanks!') Whereas now, if your site is not user-friendly, expect the wrath of the RNIB. And when legislation hits, even a fine.'

I detect a certain blurring between accessibility and usability. Does it matter? HIs bigger argument is about relationships:

'I'd like to think that at some future date we'll see customer respect or some sort of 'trust quotient' becoming a regular part of the design of online communications, up there with 'usability'. What do you think?'
