BIMA Awards Call for Accessibility/Usability Entries

Source: UN, 27 May 2004
Submitted by Ann Light

This year marks the 20th year of the BIMA Awards and the second year of an award category for accessibility and usability.

Alasdair Scott, chair of the awards committee, says the goal is to benchmark the new and innovative alongside the most creative and effective the industry has to offer.

Last year's awards saw the biggest number of entries ever. BIMA has just put out this year's call for entries and hopes to exceed even this record, offering 22 categories in all.

In the call for entries, the Accessibility and Usability award is described thus: 'This award recognises the best use of Accessibility and Usability applied to an interactive project. Judges will be looking for interactive projects which conform to accessibility guidelines and provide the user with the most elegant and intuitive operational and navigational experience.'

Overall, there are submissions by market sector and also by platform. The 'Best Use Of A Platform' includes: Internet; iTV; Mobile services; DVD; CD/Kiosks; Online game; and best online relationship marketing; interactive advertising and integrated campaign as well as best usability or accessibility.

The final deadline for the Awards is June 30th. 2004. The BIMA winners will be awarded in November at the BIMAS2004 ceremony. For more information, email: awards@bima.co.uk
