Dyslexia List launches with Major Research Programme into Accessibility Guidance

Source: UN, 7 March 2005
Submitted by Ann Light

The Adult Dyslexia Organisation (ADO) is launching a "Dyslexia Friendly: User Friendly" campaign, and putting out a call for participation in a new research initiative.

The ADO has teamed up with Key2Access Ltd to create a 'community of research and collaboration' for those involved in accessibility and dyslexia. Anyone involved in relevant research (both academic and practitioner based) is invited to join the online register being placed online this month. To do so, you will need to download a brief questionnaire (in RTF format) from: http://www.adult-dyslexia.org/research.rtf (linked below) and return it to research@adult-dyslexia.org .

If you are just interested in the initiative, or the area of research, then you can join the low volume email list that will keep you posted on the latest developments. Send an email with your name and contact details to the email address above.

The research initiative will cover four main topic areas, with other suggestions welcomed. These are:
* Web Accessibility for Dyslexia,
* E-learning Accessibility for Dyslexia,
* Interface Design (including software) for Dyslexia,
* Print Accessibility for Dyslexia.

The initiative aims to develop an Accessibility & Dyslexia research community; an online research register of researchers and practitioners; and an interactive online research literature review and bibliography. Through the staging of workshops and conferences, the intention is to bring the community together to share experience, expertise and best practice. Ultimately, the goal will be shaping guidelines and best practice advice for each of the topic areas.
