Call for Support: Scottish Online Usability Community launched

Source: UN, 13 April 2005
Submitted by Ann Light

The Scottish trade association for the information and communications technology (ICT) industry, ScotlandIS, have added a usability section to their webpages. They are the work of Thomas Holzmann, as part of his BSc honours project at Napier University. He would appreciate feedback: what you like about the site, how usable the pages are and also how useful the content is.

The new additions include:
* an interactive forum for discussing usability in Scotland;
* examples of the benefits usability brings for both suppliers and customers;
* a list of tools and methods that help achieve usable software;
* current usability events of interest to ScotandIS members;
* links to find out more about usability.

They are intended for anyone who is interested in usability, says Holzmann: experts and beginners alike, offering the possibility of exchanging knowledge and experiences in this field.

'The main motivation to develop this forum was because I think that it´s important that usability professionals, especially in a smaller community like here in Scotland, have their space to exchange ideas and find support. It is also the challenge of getting the usability experts, with their different points of view, together and to see how they communicate with each other.'

To offer feedback, contact Thomas by sending an e-mail: THWood@web.de or participate in a short survey for identifiying topics to improve the Scottish usability forum by going to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=26436945709 (linked below).
