Consumer Experience Design (CXD) is an organization within Motorola’s Mobile Devices (MD) business unit. We employ a user-centered design approach in order to optimize business strategies, build our brand, ensure usability and develop rich experiences. Our group is responsible for defining the physical and digital experience of Motorola’s mobile devices. Our activities include industrial design, interaction design, screen and information design, design research, color, material and finish specifications, product graphic design, task flow specifications, lighting and visual media design, sound design and animation.

Consumer Experience design collaborates closely with global telecom service providers and internal work partners to create compelling, usable and innovative mobile experiences for over 100 million worldwide users. Our regional offices focus on region specific design challenges in the context of a global design strategy.

Position
User Interface Design Manager: The UI Design Manager is responsible for developing the regional office goals, and to help identify a sustainable plan for the growth of the regional design group in order to support these goals. This person will be instrumental in recruiting and staffing for this new group and will be responsible for developing processes necessary to enable the regional office to function effectively within the global CXD organization and Motorola.

The UI design manager will identify and plan strategic initiatives for the region and will direct the design groups and work with internal and external organizations to bring these plans to fruition.

In addition, the UI Design Manager will drive business units in the direction of compelling, useful and usable design, educate customers and senior management on good UI design, and drive adoption by customers of Motorola design.

•Transparency of efforts to management
•Understanding of Wireless Communications industry and Motorola Business drivers
•An ability to understand and communicate customer needs and business strategies
•Strong ability to articulate usability and experience issues and drive common understanding with work partners inside and outside the organization
•Negotiation skills and experience applying them to close critical business issues
