Development Lead: New Media - Cambridge, UK

ROLE /RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Development Manager you will provide leadership for the New Media Team (5 – 20 permanent and contract staff). The New Media Team is a relatively new team that has already had considerable influence on the quality and usability of systems at Cambridge Assessment.

As the New Media Team Leader you will be responsible for:
- providing a user-centred design capability
- providing user-centred design (UCD) staff and new media resources to project teams
- leading the delivery of website and content services within IS Development
- line management and mentoring of your team.
- recruitment (permanent and contract) and training to provide sufficient levels of appropriately skilled staff to meet the demand for New Media services
- agreeing, communicating, promoting and enforcing UCD standards and web development best practices
- assisting with planning and forecasting how the development pipeline demand can be fulfilled.

In addition to team leadership you will be expected to work with the Systems Architecture Team and fellow development leads to contribute to the overall architecture and direction of IS Development. This is a hands-on leadership role which requires applicants that can demonstrate a balance of people skills, leadership ability and user-experience expertise.

SKILLS
You will hold a degree level qualification (or equivalent) and you must be able to demonstrate:
- Excellence as an expert in user-centred design and digital media
- Team leadership of small teams consisting of new media experts with a variety of skills and specialism
- A passion for user-centred design and delivery of a world class on-line user experience.
