Premier Farnell plc is a leading, high service, multi-channel distribution group supporting millions of engineers and purchasing professionals globally through its Group companies. We currently have a global opportunity for a 'Search Guru' to head up technical and user interface search implementation.
JOB PURPOSE To be accountable for Endeca based functional improvements for the Global platforms To create, deliver& manage the Search Roadmap To identify, champion and deliver enhanced online functionality for our for our Customer through Search To liaise with the GBS and Regional eCommerce teams to solidify and deliver functional and UI related Search enhancements
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES To create, manage and deliver Search functionality through all Premier Farnell websites that currently utilize either Endeca or other Search engines and to create a roadmap detailing the evolution of the applicable functionality. To work with the Regional eCommerce teams to identify and prioritise improvements to global search drops list and to identify and prioritize Usability related search improvements including scenarios To work with GBS team to assess and prioritize technical Search improvements and fixes To work with GBS to ensure delivery of Endeca scenarios and functionality To analyse, report and present Search related metrics and to use these metrics as the basis for future improvements/enhancements To work with UI designers and eCommerce UCD team to benchmark and make recommendations for UI related Search and Product Data improvements To coordinate with global Product Data team to create a consistent strategy between the two teams To carry out Usability Tests or other necessary field studies to gauge customer feedback and create recommendations for Search roadmap updates twice a year To work with product Data Group to make sure usable product data is returned from the Search engine following a Customer query The Functional Analyst will serve as the functional expert and be able to create, explain the overall Endeca/Search vision and how this vision fits within/compliments the overall vision around Product Data. The Functional Analyst will also help to drive the requirements engineering phase of any Search related projects and participate in work/effort estimation on a per project basis. Review of QA test cases related to Endeca To ensure Regional eCommerce teams are fully trained and exploiting Web Studio and Endeca Merchandising
KEY CHALLENGES To prioritize regional requests for scenarios and Endeca functionality To champion the Search Strategy and Roadmap To deliver market leading Search results/functionality without compromising the GBS plan To develop cross functional teams with GBS, Product Data, GEMS and eCommerce to drive Endeca functionality To produce innovative and constantly evolving solutions that add value and create competitive barriers to entry Help create a High Performing Team Influencing senior managers and directors around changes to process, ways of working or prioritization of opportunities
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Degree Qualified 3-5 years eCommerce experience, including Content management Systems, extranets and micro-stores Thorough Endeca, Search, Product Data Self starter and team player Strong written, verbal communication and presentational skills Strong technical understanding of Endeca (wildcarding, A graphs, D graphs, parametric search, etc) Good analytical skills Passionate about delivering high quality solutions Strong experience in developing requirements in sufficient detail for development groups and business partners to understand Strong ability to prioritize simultaneous enhancement requests from various stakeholders based on quantitative metrics around ROI and CBA Excellent ability to translate metrics and analytical data into design recommendations Strong ability to differentiate between functional and technical requirements Ability to quickly adapt functional roadmaps based on new direction or new information Ability to translate business requirements into functional/ui requirements, and work closely with development teams to translate into technical specifications Strong Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and persuasively at all levels within the organization. Experience of online marketing including; email marketing, SEO, PPC and affiliate programmes
