Research Consultant – London

Deadline: 12 September 2008
Source: Unknown, 11 August 2008
Submitted by Stuart Booth

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the cutting-edge of user experience – phunQube is much more than just another usability agency. With a passion for quality, our work extends from the development of strategic concepts, through ethnographic research to highly interactive prototypes. We don’t just test websites – we help clients come up with sound ideas based on the needs of real people, then work with them to make them a reality.

As a researcher at phunQube you will get the chance to work alongside some of the best experience architects in the world, on a wide range of innovative and challenging projects. With the support of our Head of Research, you will play a key part in expansion of the research team, delivering exceptional client work and helping to keep us one step ahead in terms of methodologies and digital user experience insights.

Joining our small but beautifully formed team, you will gain experience on exciting and innovative projects, in the UK and abroad, for a great range of clients, such as Channel 4, Five, Lovefilm, Amazon.com, First Plus, BBC Worldwide, Currys, Lloyds TSB and more. We are passionate about our work, but friendly, fun and supportive too, and will help you develop your skills to keep you at the top of your game.

The job involves:
- Supporting our Head of Research in the design of methodologies
- Organising the nuts and bolts of research; participant recruitment, facilities, etc.
- Carrying out a range of qualitative research methods; stakeholder interviews, ethnography, contextual inquiry, focus groups, interviews, prototype tests, remote usability tests, etc.
- Others methods, such as online surveys, automated usability tests and eye-tracking
- Analysis and reporting of research findings
- Close co-operation with our design team to make workable, strategic recommendations; though not a design role, you will be expected to play a real part in forming solutions
- Frequent contact with clients, including day-to-day management and presentations
- Assistance in design and conduction of internal research projects as a basis for phunQube Insights whitepapers.

You need to have:
- At least two years’ experience carrying out and organising primarily qualitative research, either within user experience or market research environment
- A keen interest in digital user experience
- A good degree (2-1 or above, preferably with Masters) in an appropriate subject (psychology, human factors, human-computer interaction, cognitive science, etc.)
- Excellent conceptual skills
- Excellent documentation skills
- Excellent client-facing and teamwork skills
- Attention to detail.

The benefits you get:
- Highly competitive salary
- Generous annual holiday, plus Christmas break
- Contributory pension
- Opportunities for professional development.

If you would like to be considered for this position, please send your CV to career@phunQube.com quoting reference RE_001_08.
