Morae 3 now Available

TechSmith has just announced the availability of the new version of its web-usability software, Morae 3.

Morae allows businesses to identify website and application design problems, to measure and improve the experience that users have with either new applications or a website. It also expands the functionality in Morae 2 to widen the possible uses of the software beyond just screen interactions. Morae’s improved Recorder allows testers to easily capture more user interactions from more sources to gain even greater insight into usability. The new recording options also drive the product into market research realms, with users able to incorporate the application into focus groups, paper prototyping, and record mobile devices to in-depth analysis. The Morae 3 Manager has also introduced new features that allow any user to analyse customer experience recordings faster and share the results more easily in a more engaging and professional manner. It also incorporates new quantitative survey methods that can be deployed within a study session, streamlining and deepening the research process substantially.

TechSmith developed Morae 3 in response to findings that web usability testing is perceived as dispensable and mainly occurs at the end of the development process. However, in order to gauge a website’s value to users and ultimately generate bottom-line results, usability testing needs to be an on-going process. The Autopilot feature automatically logs results throughout the test, allowing the moderator to focus on co-ordinating the test activities. As a result, web usability testing can be undertaken by one person, meaning that even companies with limited resources can maximise the business benefits to be gained from their websites.

Shane Lovellette, User Experience Products Manager at TechSmith comments “With Morae 3 we wanted to enable organizations to expand the methods of research available to them so they can capture and analyze detailed customer feedback throughout the product desing process," said Shane Lovellette, User Experience Products Manager at TechSmith. “Regardless of the product, from mobile devices to software applications to Web sites, and no matter the type of research needed, from focus groups to prototype testing to usability testing, Morae 3 supports it all to deliver actionable insight efficiently and cost effectively."
