Information Architect - Gloucester

Deadline: 12 January 2010
Source: Unknown , 2 December 2010
Submitted by Leo Wilkins

Information Architect /User Experience Architect /Customer Experience Architect required urgently for pivotal role within an IT and Technology consultancy based near Gloucester.

It will be necessary to go through SC and DV clearance if you’re not already SC or DV cleared, as you'll be working on high-level government projects in the intelligence area (think Spooks!). My client will pay for your DV clearance, which is worth £20k!

The successful candidate will come from an Information Architect /User Experience Architect /Customer Experience Architect background and will ideally have worked on very large data applications eg web projects, websites or web portals, or an application that sits on an intranet.

You must understand and have experience with User-Centered Design (UCD) and understand how users interact with systems and applications. You must be able to lead a workstream through a discovery and design phase. You need to be commercially aware with very good customer facing skills. Ideally you will have led large programme/s of UCD work (eg large web applications or customer facing web portals) within a large end-user eg an investment bank or teleco operator, or alternatively come from a digital media agency.

Working on a large-scale project you will assist the Creative Architect (effectively the Senior Art Director) who runs the creative applications. There are 50 other people working on this project but you and the Creative Architect are the only creative people on the team. You need to be able to talk to people and be aware of major products and software services that are currently available in the market place. You’ll define screens and work with experts in technology. You will also look at business consulting ie why is the application beneficial to the business, ROI etc.

Your responsibilities are to design and facilitate workshops to draw out user requirements. You will follow UCS methodologies to understand who the end-users are and the needs of the system and applications. This will involve doing scenario and user journeys to define the screens that deliver the needs. You will work closely with client site stakeholders and your internal teams and also with design teams to visualise these solutions and working with development teams to implement them.

My client is looking for 'iphone' quality usability for these large-scale government applications and it’ll be your responsibility to make this happen!

This is an excellent career opportunity, as you’ll work for the only digital media team in the country with DV security clearance. The team you'll work in is a top 10 new media agency but also has the added advantage of being in a large IT consultancy ie it's a broad environment for you to develop your career. The successful candidate will own the visibility and design of the interface. Any experience in enterprise search, Rich Internet Applications (RIA), Internet applications, Adobe Flex etc would be advantageous. As would experience working with one or more of the following: visualisation tools, workflow, filtering info, relevancy engineering.

You need to be passionate and articulate about what you do. Fantastic opportunity for a lucky IA /UX /UEA!! Apply now or call Leo on 020 7469 5656.

Urgent!
