Online Communications are Curtailing Offline Activities

Traditional forms of media consumption and communications are being permanently altered by internet use, according to a new study by GartnerG2. More than half of US consumers questioned said they use postal mail less than they had previously, before the internet. About a third of those polled by Gartner also said they now placed fewer long distance telephone calls.

Some 20% of Web users watch television less than they had before its arrival, while about the same percentage agreed they read newspapers less. About 18% said they go to see fewer films, while about 15% also said they watch videos and read magazines less often.
