Student Interaction Design Competition Launched

The authors/publisher of "Interaction Design: beyond human-computer interaction" are running a competition to encourage reflective thinking on HCI type issues.

The competition is for students who are using our book to study Interaction Design, HCI or another related subject. The goal is to encourage reflection on the importance of interaction design from different perspectives. Students are required to write a short essay that is thoughtful and provocative and that addresses the core issues concerning the significance and value of interaction design. The essays will be judged by a panel of experts in the field and the prize winners and runners-up will be published on the Interaction Design website in September 2003.

Aims of the competition:

- to promote critical thinking
- to share ideas across cultures
- to encourage interdisciplinarity

What you have to do:

- Write an essay up to a 1000 words on "Interaction design will never be more than the icing on the cake. Discuss."

- The final essay should be submitted in pdf format to submissions@id-book.com

NB. You do not have to provide evidence of owning the book to enter. In fact runners up can win their own free copy.

- Prizes: 1st prize $150. 2nd prize $100. 3rd prize $50. Runners up: a copy of the book.

- Submission deadline: June 30th 2003

- Eligibility: Students studying interaction design, HCI or related course.

- Results announced: Beginning of September 2003.
